The Biennial National Safety Conference (BNSC) is Ghana’s biggest platform for Public and Occupational Safety and Health issues. Every two years it convenes industry leaders, safety professionals and practitioners, representatives of Government regulatory bodies and various professional bodies such as the National Safety Council (NSC), Trades Union Congress (TUC), Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Ghana Police Service, National Road Safety Commission, Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority, Ghana Employers Association (GEA), Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), among others to discuss and explore the most critical safety topics affecting corporate Ghana and Industry. The Vice President of the Republic, His Excellency Dr. Mahamoud Bawumiah is expected to deliver the key note address at the Fifth Biennial National Safety Conference(BNSC) themed “TRANSPORTATION SAFETY AND SECURITY: STRENGTHENING INSTITUTIONS, RESEARCH AND TRAINING TOWARDS A SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT”

 

Since its inception in 2011, the Biennial National Safety Conference has received massive patronage from policy level authority, technocrats, and the enterprises fraternity in Ghana; including a sitting Vice President of the Republic. The Biennial platform is endorsed by the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations.

 

 

This year’s conference is expected to feature a number of breakout sessions addressing very technical, critical and emerging issues spanning across various industries. It is expected to highlight enormity of the safety and security threat facing the transportation sector in Ghana and the opportunities and challenges facing State institutions and key stakeholders in addressing the matter. It will also explore the nexus between research and training on one hand and law enforcement on the other hand. Participants drawn from various sectors of the economy are expected to network with other professionals and also have the opportunity to interact with regulators and other stakeholders in industry.

 

The special feature at this years’ conference will be the launch of the National Register of the National Safety Council for Safety Professionals by the Honorable Minister responsible for Employment and Labour Relations.
